Warumpi-Art-Coasters
Warumpi is the Luritja word for
"honeyant" and is the
traditional symbol for the country
around Papunya 250 km west of
Alice Springs. The Papunya
community artists have been painting
in acrylics on canvas and board
since the early 1970's.
Western desert painters first
translated the motifs of their
vibrant culture onto canvas with
outstanding and well documented
results. Today, the older
artists pass on their stories
and skills to younger ones who
are emerging as skilled artists
in their own right. Set of 6 exquisitely
designed, and unique coasters
in a decorated cardboard box.
